                                                   MY FAKE TANNING TIPS

  1. Exfoliate your whole body a few days before you apply fake tan , I use exfoliating gloves or mitt, you dont really need a harsh scrub.
  2.  Moisturiser from head to toe also a few days before application.
  3. Shave legs 24hrs before to avoid fake tan sinking into pours and leaving drak dots all over legs.
  4. Shower and exfoliate gently on the day ,exfoliating too much can make skin crack and bleed or feel tender and tight.
  5. DO NOT use body wash that has oil in them, the oil leaves a film on skin and will the result will be streaky!
  6. Avoid using dove soap or body wash , this made my application streaky! I now use baby soap and get streak free results :)
  7. Moisturise only drier areas before applying your tan , elbows, knees , feet ,ankles and wrists , if you apply moisturiser to full body the result may be streaky and it will be a lighter tan as it seems to delute the tan.
  8. Use a make up sponge with half moisturiser and half fake tan to apply to feet , ankles and hands as the tan seems to stick in these areas and go darker.
  9. Apply to body first thou , I start at my calf's and work my way up my body doing feet and hands last as explained above.
  10. I apply my xen tan dark lotion with xen tans own mitt ,its very soft and does not soak up much product it also saves your hands getting stained,I have tried the foam mitts from boots and superdrug I didn't like them!
  11. After application , I take a fluffy bed sock  and gently wipe over the areas we tend to get darker and have problems  , feet , hands , ankles , elbows and wrists then moisturise these areas again.
  12. Moisturise every day to keep skin hydrated and make your tan last longer and fade evenly like a real tan.You should use a Oil free moisturize!
  13. Moisturisers with oil in them break down DHA ( this is in all fake tans and gradual tanners) it is what gives us the colour on our skin , AVOID THEM!
  14. I think its best to use fake tans with a guide colour in them then you can see where you apply and if you have missed anywhere.
  15. I have read using olive oil and sugar is a good exfoliaor but personally , I would NOT advise using this for the reason above.
  16. Exfoliate gently every two or three days , use moisturiser daily all over ( oil free ), this will remove dead skin cells and hydrate skin for a longer lasting tan!
